Tues.-Sun. 6:30am until doughnuts are sold out (about 5-7pm)

This doughnut (or is it donut?) shop is tiny, but boy can it churn out delicious doughnuts!  I got the Creme Brulee doughnut without any idea of how it looked, hoping that its taste would somewhat resemble that of a creme brulee.  I was surprised to find out that it looked like an enlarged version of a Dunkin Donuts Munchkin, but more decadent and tasty.  So you can imagine, it was definitely a tiny thing that wasn't enough to satisfy a hungry gal like myself.  However, it did pack a punch in the taste department.  It had a crispy glaze coating that had the slightest bit of a crunch to it that yielded a smooth, creamy filling that had the perfect amount of sweetness.  The cream looked like Bavarian cream but tasted exactly like a smoother version of creme brulee.

My friend got an extra doughnut (the Coconut Glaze Coconut Cream) that he couldn't stomach down.  So, I guess I had to take one for the team and take care of it, though it didn't take much coercion or much effort.  The doughnut was a funny square shape with a hole in the middle, so the filling wasn't in the center of the doughnut, but rather along the dough.  My first bite into it was quite refreshing.  It had a sugary glaze of coconut flakes on the outside and was filled with milky, smooth coconut cream.  For me the glaze outside was a tad bit sweet and was probably the main culprit of my subsequent sugar rush.  However, the delicious milky cream filling and the chewy dough made up for the overly sweet glaze.  I definitely would come back here.  Sorry, Dunkin' and Krispy, the Plant is far more superior.  -10/2/09

  1. A friend had taken me here once and for a small donut shop it was packed like sardines. But after trying their donuts- the creme brulee and the creamed-filled coconut- i understood what the commotion was all about. If i didnt live so far i would definitely visit the Plant everyday!
